Despite getting his very own sitcom on NBC, one of SNL’s most underrated cast members of all time wants to conjure the spirit of Lindsey Buckingham and assure us all he’s not abandoning us in the name of comedy. Kenan Thompson, who’s now wrapping up his 16th (!) season on the show, swung by Ellen yesterday to confirm he has no plans to leave SNL despite his increasingly hectic schedule. “It’s the best job in the world,†Thompson explained. “I can’t see myself just walking away from it like that, even with how busy I’ve been.†In addition to his Saving Kenan sitcom pilot — which stars Thompson as a “newly widowed dad determined to do everything for his kids, while begrudgingly letting his persistent father-in-law become more involved in their lives†— Thompson will also judge a summer competition series called Bring the Funny on the network. Maybe all of us should chip in to get him a new Nespresso machine.
