Anna Konkle and Maya Erskine on Why Pen15 Is So Relatable
Actresses and co-creators Anna Konkle and Maya Erskine tapped into something universal with their runaway-hit Hulu series Pen15. The series explores the intricacies of middle school and all the awkward feelings and experiences that being in seventh grade uniquely affords.
“It’s a time where I think a lot of transformation is happening,” Erskine said at the Vulture Emmy Studio in L.A. “Your body is transforming in really almost grotesque ways and your mind in forming into who you’re going to become as an adult.”
“It’s just a time of confusion,” she added. “Anyone can relate to the trauma around that time.”
