Busy Philipps Had 6 Months to Change the World
Busy Tonight may be canceled, but its impact is still being felt. Philipps never mentioned Trump on her show, by design. Some topics were light, others more serious, but the Busy Tonight staff felt that we’d all heard enough about Trump by 11:30 p.m. “It’s okay to care about fun things, even in this time,” Philipps told us in the Vulture Emmys lounge. “It doesn’t mean that you don’t care about other things.” The show only lasted six months (that’s all they give you as a woman), but that was six months where there was at least one woman in the late night talk show sphere. “Simply being a woman at this point is a political statement,” Philipps said.
