Comedian Tig Notaro stopped by The Late Show With Stephen Colbert last night to chat about her weird and wonderful new Funny or Die series Under a Rock. After being quizzed on her knowledge of a few big celebrities (including the Hollywood Chrises), Notaro told Colbert a story about a meeting she recently had with Reese Witherspoon that led to a pretty awkward moment, and later, a big realization. It turns out that not being familiar with who most celebrities are gets extra complicated when you have a hearing problem, so when Witherspoon told Notaro about how short she is compared to her Big Little Lies castmates, Notaro heard something a little different that made the conversation super weird. When Witherspoon said “Nicole Kidman is 5’11, and Shailene’s 5’8,†Notaro heard “Nicole Kidman is 5’11, and she leans 5’8.†(So, Reese Witherspoon, please don’t judge Notaro by the strange place she took that conversation to.) The only way this story should end is Shailene Woodley appearing as a guest on Notaro’s show ASAP.
