Martin Scorsese has a new Bob Dylan documentary on the way — mostly! Netflix released the trailer today for Rolling Thunder Revue: A Bob Dylan Story, which does two things: It chronicles the famous and strange Rolling Thunder Revue tour that the musician embarked on in 1975, and it also blurs the truth more than a little bit. “Inspired by Dylan’s own restless spirit, Scorsese performs some breathtaking sleight of hand,†per the film’s description, “summoning nostalgic fantasists, boxers, magicians, starlets and testifiers of all stripes, and exploding the boundaries of what makes a conventional documentary.†It’s unknown how the film will differentiate between the embellished material and the actual archive footage that has been restored for Rolling Thunder Revue, but it does feel properly mischievous for a story about young Bob. In addition to all that, Marty scored the first on-camera interview with Dylan himself in a decade — take that, Nobel committee! The documentary will play in select theaters and start streaming on June 12.
