Between the all-white fabric armor and the not remembering how you got there, Paradise Hills doesn’t seem like the finishing school Milla Jovovich claims it is. In director Alice Waddington’s film debut, Emma Roberts joins Awkwafina, Danielle McDonald and Eiza Gonzalez at a futuristic facility where “high-class families send their daughters to become perfect versions of themselves.†There, they’ll learn about etiquette, beauty and, based on the film’s description “a sinister secret†that threatens to destroy them all, which does not seem worth the price of tuition.
On the other hand, Paradise Hills says it can resolve “all physical and emotional shortcomings within two months,†which is a steal at any price! Oh, unless all the residents get replaced by robots, Stepford Wives-style. Or have their personalities wiped. Or they get trapped forever in some kind of translucent orb as suggested by the trailer. Looks like you’ll have to wait until November 1 to learn what your hard-earned money is going towards.
