Homecoming (the Amazon show, not the Beyoncé documentary) really said “icons only†when casting its leads. The role will be passed on from season-one star Julia Roberts and her wigs to pants aficionado Janelle Monáe. According to TVLine, Monáe’s character wakes up floating in a canoe with no recollection of who she is or how she got there. Julia Roberts’s departure from the show was confirmed earlier this year. Vulture’s boyfriend Stephan James returns to the show, along with Bobby Cannavale, Shea Whigham, Alex Karpovsky and Sissy Spacek. Based on the Gimlet Media podcast, the series, showrunner Sam Esmail previously said, will to diverge from the source material even further in season two. Truly cannot wait to see what graces the Grammy Award nominee’s head when Homecoming season two premieres in 2020. Maybe she’ll get a really cool hat.
