Time to put all of the true-crime podcasts you listen to on pause; Mindhunter is finally back, and sooner than you might have expected. Two years after getting renewed at Netflix, the crime drama will come back for season two on August 16. Deadline confirmed the date after executive producer David Fincher announced it on KCRW’s podcast The Treatment. Starring Jonathan Groff and Holt McCallany, the series follows the FBI’s Behavioral Science Unit as they dig into gruesome murders based on true stories. The second season will go forward a few years in time to focus on the Atlanta child murders of 1979 to 1981, where 28 African-Americans were killed. Plus, while talking to Vulture, McCallany hinted that we might see everyone’s favorite murderer, Charles Manson, and David Berkowitz. There’s a lot to settle from last season and just enough time to binge-watch it before August 16.
