All the White People Music That Black People Love Is Finally Available on One CD

Last year, IFC ordered a musical sketch-comedy series from Bashir Salahuddin and Diallo Riddle titled Sherman’s Showcase, and ahead of its debut later this month, the network just dropped a clip from the show that confirms one sneaking suspicion about it: It’s going to be very funny. Similar to Documentary Now!, Sherman’s Showcase is a look back through the 40-year history of a fictional, Soul Train– and In Living Color–inspired musical variety show, with Salahuddin starring as the titular host Sherman McDaniel. In the new clip, a “classic commercial” from the show is unearthed promoting a new CD called Now That’s What I Call White Music, so black people can finally have all of the white-people music they love in one easy place. “You all know these tunes. ‘Roxanne’ by Sting. ‘I Can’t Go for That’ by Hall & Oates. The entire Steely Dan album Aja,” Sherman says. “We got all the white songs black people fuck with on one CD!”

As previously revealed, guest stars slated to show up throughout Sherman’s Showcase’s first season include executive producer John Legend, Tiffany Haddish, Common, Quincy Jones, Marlon Wayans, Ne-Yo, Lil Rel Howery, Tawny Newsome, Mike Judge, and the Lucas Brothers.
