The End Has Come for Now Apocalypse As Starz Cancels the Series

After just one strange season, Starz has cancelled the Gregg Araki series Now Apocalypse, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Vulture had described the show as “part satire, part relationship drama, part science fiction, and all goofball punk comedy, … a series in which otherworldly conspiracies lurk just beneath the surface of everyday life; pansexual characters monologue about creativity, beauty, and loneliness when they aren’t hooking up in alleyways and on internet live-cams; and an orgasm causes a psychedelic explosion in the sky.†That really seems like a shame to lose, but we can rest assured that Araki — responsible for works like The Living End, Mysterious Skin, and Smiley Face — will never soften his creative endeavors in the face of a setback. Shine on in streaming perpetuity, you crazy diamond.
