Megan Rapinoe is officially a triple threat: soccer player, illustrious talk show guest, and now author. The World Cup champion and co-captain of the U.S. Women’s Soccer team has scored a two-book deal from Penguin Press. Rapinoe signed on to do not just a memoir, but also an additional book for young readers. The memoir will share anecdotes from her life and offer inspiration beyond the game of soccer. “I hope this book will inspire people to find what they can do, and in turn inspire other people around them to do the same,†Rapinoe said in an email to the New York Times. The book will tackle issues like equal pay and LGBTQ rights, which Rapinoe has already advocated for. Her second book will be published with Razorbill, a middle-grade division of Penguin Young Readers, which aims to teach young people how to use their power to make an impact on the world and in their communities. We all have so much to learn from Rapinoe, we might as well start ‘em young.
