Even if you’re a die-hard fan of true-crime podcasts, Wondery’s Dr. Death might be a challenge to get through. (Before you listen, ask yourself: How do you feel about intentional neck and spine injuries?) On the other hand, if it wasn’t enough to just hear about the crimes of Dr. Christopher Duntsch, UCP has got the limited TV series for you. From the same studio that brought you Hulu’s The Act and Bravo’s Dirty John, Dr. Death stars 50 Shades of Grey actor Jamie Dornan as the titular neurosurgeon, who left a string of dead, paralyzed, and severely injured patients in his wake.
Alec Baldwin and Christian Slater will play neurosurgeon Robert Henderson and vascular surgeon Randall Kirby, respectively, two real-life doctors who identified Duntsch’s wrongdoing, helped get his medical license suspended, and eventually persuaded the Dallas district attorney to pursue Dr. Death on criminal charges. If you can’t wait until the series finds a home to find out what happens (it’s currently being shopped around), then go ahead, give the podcast a listen. Don’t say we didn’t warn you. About all that horrible spine stuff.
