In July, Cardi Barbara Walters sat down with Senator Bernie Sanders at a black-owned Detroit nail salon to discuss student debt, health care, and police brutality in a political summit that won’t soon be forgotten, raising the question: Is a talk show on Cardi B’s horizon? On Saturday, TMZ stopped Cardi B as she was leaving Bryant Park Hotel in New York and asked if she would ever want her own talk show. “You know my mouth is a little bit too slick for a talk show,†the rapper replied in a video posted on TMZ. “People be twisting my words.†What about a political career? Although she’s passionate about politics, she’s not interested in pursuing it professionally. “I’d rather leave that to somebody that really into it,†she said. “I’m focused on so many things, music, my child.†She would, however, perform at the Democratic National Convention or the White House if Sanders wins the Democratic nomination or the presidency. “Sure, why not,†she said.
Later, Cardi B talked about how she believes Jay-Z, who recently partnered with the NFL to coordinate entertainment and work with the league’s social-justice initiative, can bring real change to the NFL. “I feel like he went in there like, ‘Alright, you guys want me to work with chy’all, y’all need to bring my peoples in there. Y’all need to do things my way,’ †she said. “I feel like Jay-Z could bring back Colin Kaepernick. I feel like he has that power.â€
