Dancing in the footsteps of Fox’s Beverly Hills 90210 meta-reboot, the first trailer for Disney’s scripted High School Musical: The Musical: The Series takes something old and makes it new again. Well, “new†inasmuch as a Glee-style tongue-in-cheek comedy, made meta by focusing on a production of High School Musical at the high school where High School Musical was shot, feels novel. Speaking of Glee, it’s already been ten years since that show premiered. Seems like the perfect time to reboot that baby, too. Hmmm, how to put a new spin on Glee, though … Riverdale-esque dark teen drama maybe? High School Musical: The Musical: The Series will premiere on Disney+ on November 12, when the streaming platform goes live.
