Or at least, she loves her adorable dog Nugget, who co-stars in the music video for her new single, “Small Talk.†The song is a cute-enough breakup banger that is completely elevated, if not upstaged, by a star turn from Perry’s teacup poodle, who gets to wear tiny clothes and have a Lady and the Tramp moment with a male model’s Weimaraner. And unlike many human actors, Nugget can even shed a single tear on cue! We smell a Palm Dog award in Nugget’s future, because Brandy from Once Upon a Time in Hollywood clearly isn’t the only ginger “It†girl in town. The video features a “Mutt Ball†(the theme of which, according to Katy Perry’s Instagram, is “TRAMP not CAMPâ€) and — in its pageant-mom matching-outfit realness — seems to take equal parts inspiration from Cruella de Vil, Toddlers & Tiaras, and Best in Show. The video also does that Beginners thing where the dogs have cheeky subtitles. It also also does that Spring Awakening thing of there being a refrain that’s just the words “blah blah blah†a bunch of times because they’re sassy. All we want to know is this: Now that Taylor Swift and Katy Perry are friends again, do you think Nugget hangs out with Benjamin Button?
