The Cars front man Ric Ocasek, born Richard Theodore Otcasek, died Sunday, September 15, at the age of 75. His cause of death has yet to be released, but police were called to the singer’s Manhattan apartment Sunday afternoon, where he was pronounced dead, according to NBC 4 New York. Ocasek and his band were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2018, after dominating the American pop scene throughout the 1980s with 13 Top 40 hits including “Just What I Needed,†“My Best Friend’s Girl,†and “Good Times Roll.â€
In addition to seven albums with the Cars, from 1978’s The Cars to 2011’s Move Like This, the singer and producer released seven solo albums. Ocasek had six sons, including two with model Paulina Porizkova, his wife of 28 years, who announced their separation in 2018.
