The tragic need to address Luke Perry’s death aside, the trailer for Riverdale’s fourth season promises a very accurate, very relatable portrayal of what senior year is like for teens in 2019: You know, like becoming the caped vigilante of the town while opening a community center for kids. Or visiting your mafioso father in jail with a blonde wig. Or, yikes, whacking a preppy kid unconscious in a dorm room with a stapler? Why don’t these kids just leave! (Oh right, one does.) But, most poignantly, we get to see how the unexpected passing of Fred Andrews (Perry) will influence our characters at a crucial time in their lives. “It hurts me that I never got to say goodbye,†his son, Archie (K.J. Apa), somberly narrates. Riverdale returns on October 9, if you need a reminder that your high-school years weren’t so shitty after all.
