In accordance with the name of her fourth studio album, Taylor Swift turns Miles Teller’s glamorous white wedding “red, burning red†in the music video for “I Bet You Think About Me (Taylor’s Version) (From the Vault).†The song is about an ex — swanky, from Beverly Hills — whose friends looked down on Swift when they were dating. But after they broke up, she bets they all still think about her. And now that the music video for the breakup song is Blake Lively’s directorial debut, Swift will definitely be on their minds.
Teller plays the “silver-spoon gated community†ex-lover, and he indeed cannot stop thinking about Swift at his wedding. Throughout the ceremony, she sticks out like a sore thumb in her bright red outfits and her not-so-“upper crust†behavior. She grabs a chunk of red-velvet cake and shoves it in her mouth; she teaches little girls how to give the wind-up middle finger. At the climax of the song, Taylor emerges from a blinding light in a pure-white bridal gown, and as with the outfit change in the Hannah Montana theme song, her twirl turns the snowy dress red. Crimson then bleeds into the bride’s wedding-cake figurine, the tower of macarons, and the band’s instruments as Teller stands watching, stunned. Clearly, loving her was red.
“I Bet You Think About Me,†featuring vocals from Chris Stapleton, is one of the “vault†songs that didn’t make the original Red cut in 2012. Swift teased the video on social media, announcing that it was written by her and Lively and directed by Lively. Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, stopped by 30 Rock Saturday to support Swift’s Saturday Night Live performance. Reynolds can be spotted in the mirror taking a photo of Swift, Bowen Yang, and All Too Well actor Sadie Sink backstage.
