The 2022 CMT Music Awards went off with … minimal hitches. Co-host Kelsea Ballerini had to do her duties via satellite due to testing positive for COVID-19. She was joined in the Nashville Municipal Auditorium by Kane Brown and Captain America himself, Anthony Mackie. The y’all-ified version of the VMAs kicked off with a Keith Urban performance of “Wild Hearts.” Carrie Underwood, who won her tenth Video of the Year award with Jason Aldean, took a page from Pink’s book and got all up in some aerial silks for a performance of “Ghost Story.” Underwood’s total CMT awards number 25, more than any other artist. And despite COVID in her system, Ballerini managed a rendition of “Heartfirst.”
