Sorry, we’re all out of Coke movies. Is a Pepsi movie okay? Deadline reports that Judd Apatow is directing Cola Wars, a film about the battle between Coke and Pepsi for the hearts, minds, and taste buds of the world. Steven Spielberg is attached as a producer through Amblin Entertainment. It’s probably the biggest moment for spon-con in an Amblin film since E.T. and Reese’s Pieces.

Per Deadline, the movie will focus on Pepsi’s David vs. Goliath struggle against Coca-Cola — including such historic moments as New Coke and That Time Pepsi Set Michael Jackson on Fire. Presumably, it will end before Lana Del Rey says her pussy tastes like Pepsi cola. Message to Apatow: That could make for a good end-credits song, unless you want to go more current with Addison Rae.

Cola Wars joins an already crowded new genre: the company biopic. Citizens United said corporations are people, and Hollywood said, “Bet.†There’s Air, BlackBerry, Tetris, Flamin’ Hot, Ferrari, Ford v. Ferrari, that one Mike Faist movie about pinball, and the Emmy-losing Unfrosted. And that’s not even touching on the limited series. Will the business-movie market soar ever upward, like in Air? Or burst so hard it’ll make We Crashed seem tame?
