Our nations two greatest living drag acts are coming together to get in on the yee-haw of it all. Prince and the Police impersonator Bruno Mars is collaborating with Nancy Sinatra and Bruce Springsteen impersonator Lady Gaga on a new duet, titled “Die With a Smile.†“WHILE YOU WAIT TILL LG7…†Gaga wrote on August 15. Both pop stars are bedecked in red and blue rodeo-appropriate fits in the music video and single cover. The song itself is yet another example of legacy pop acts this year goin’ country — though, despite the yee-haw stylings, the song sounds like it would fit in best on an Adult Contemporary playlist. We assume the two short kings (Gaga is 5’1†and Mars is 5’5â€) initially met attempting to stack on top of each other in a trench coat to ride the Rock ’n’ Rollercoaster.
The same night that the song dropped, the duo performed it live for the first time. Mars opened the brand-new Inglewood, California, arena, the Intuit Dome, on August 15, and brought Gaga out as a surprise guest during his encore. She wore that same stack of hair and separated lashes that she has in the music video, and the two sat at their instruments and belted their faces off, as they are wont to do.
