The lamb didn’t lie down on Broadway to deal with this crap. For those who have been eternally curious about Lily Collins’s favorite Genesis song, you and Andy Cohen have something in common: He asked Phil’s daughter that very question on Watch What Happens Live on September 22, to which she responded without an answer. Collins paused. She looked down. She prayed to the power of Tony Banks to compel her. She finally muttered, “I don’t know if I have one.” (She did note that her favorite Phil solo song, like most, is “In the Air Tonight.”) Despite this land of song confusion, though, Collins noted how certain Genesis melodies have followed her around since before she was even born. “The funny thing is that I have these memories as a kid of songs that I don’t know if they’re actually real. Because they were in my head as I was maybe in the womb,” she explained. “But then when I went to the first Genesis concert that I actually remembered as an adult, there were songs that came on that I went, That’s a real song? I thought that was just a melody in my head. It was really weird. It was confirmed.” Back in 2022, Collins, like Peter Gabriel, attended Genesis’s final show in London — her younger half-brother, Nic, took over drum duties for the tour due to Phil’s health condition. All right, well. That’s all.
