We come to the Variety “Actors on Actors†studio to laugh, to cry, to convince our kids that we’re cool. On the latest edition, Nicole Kidman and her interview partner, Zendaya, giggle and swap leading-lady stories, all with the purpose of Kidman going home with some major street cred. Never mind that Kidman is absolutely eating her suit and loose tie, or that she’s a certified sexy baby(girl). The real reason she’s cool, she tells Zendaya, is that she’s talking with the Disney Channel star her daughters grew up watching on TV. “I’m obsessed,†she says. “This is, like, the highlight for me, because I get to go home and go, ‘Look, Sunday and Faith: Zendaya! I’ve made it!’†She even slides in some of her best (but still dated) internet lingo, asking Zendaya to “spill the tea†on Euphoria.
Elsewhere in the interview, they talk that three-way kiss in Challengers, whether scripts or directors attract them to projects, and how they let go of characters who’ve taken physical and emotional tolls on them. For Kidman, that includes cleaning her chakras, praying, and sageing out the bad energy. It’s pretty cool, to be honest. But not as cool as Kidman’s coolest pastime: 365 babygirl raving.
