Adrien Brody stole a smooch from Halle Berry when he won the Academy Award for Best Actor in 2003 for The Pianist. And they just did it again, baby! On the red carpet of the 97th Academy Awards, Berry ambushed Brody and laid a big fat one on him. “I had to do that, I had to pay him back,” Berry said during Brody’s Access Hollywood interview. Berry clarified that she had Brody’s girlfriend’s consent for the kiss. “Georgina said I could,” she said. But is there someone else you forgot to ask? That’s right, you forgot about Jesus Christ.
Brody and Berry have both reflected on their Oscars moment over the years. Berry said on WWHL that she had little choice but the roll with it. “I was like, ‘What the fuck’s happening right now?’ That is what was going through my mind,” she said. “And because I was there the year before and I know the feeling of being out of your body, I just fucking went with it. But I was like, ‘What the fuck is going on right now?’” Brody has said it felt like time stood still when he was kissing Berry, saying it was “probably one of the most memorable moments ever.” That and Rasta Man, right?
