The attorney for Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the Rust armorer who was sentenced to 18 months for involuntary manslaughter, has filed a motion for her conviction to be overturned or for a retrial. The motion comes after Alec Baldwin’s involuntary-manslaughter case was dismissed. “Justice demands that Hannah Gutierrez-Reed’s conviction be overturned immediately, ensuring that the legal system does not perpetuate this core affront to our system that has been watched all over the world,†attorney Jason Bowles and his team wrote in the filing obtained by The Wrap. Baldwin’s manslaughter charges were dismissed after defense alleged that prosecution withheld key evidence. Gutierrez-Reed’s attorneys claim that special prosecutor Kari Morrissey colluded to hide evidence provided by retired police officer Troy Teske. “The State withheld bombshell exculpatory evidence that it had a constitutional
obligation to disclose and that would have resulted in a fundamentally different trial and likely a different outcome,†the filing states. Attorneys also asks that Gutierrez-Reed be released immediately.
