Frankfurt airport is the largest single workplace in Germany. More than 500 companies have a base there, including international shops, hotels and conference centres, not to mention airlines. There are more than 75,000 employees.

The airport is the third busiest in Europe and handles more than 1,365 flights daily. Some people claim jede Sekunde startet oder landet ein Flugzeug – every second a plane takes off or lands – although this is unlikely since there is a ban on night flights.
