Description
October 1st, China’s National Day, is far from being a day of rest. In Beijing, people swarm to Tiananmen Square to see the floral displays, or go shopping in Wangfujing, one of the city’s main shopping precinct. Cooking and eating a grand meal is also a must on this important holiday.
Classroom Ideas
Ask the class to do some research on major Chinese holidays before watching the clip. List any equivalent public holidays here in the UK. Ask students to list differences. For example there are fewer religious holidays, such as Easter, in China.
