How do I uninstall BBC iPlayer Downloads on a Mac?

To completely remove BBC iPlayer Downloads, you'll need to uninstall the app then remove some additional folders, which we've listed below. 


First, remove the application

  1. Go to Applications
  2. Ctrl + click BBC iPlayer Downloads
  3. Select Move to trash


Then, remove the BBC iPlayer Downloads folder

This is located in the Movies folder. The full path location is User > USER-NAME > Movies > "BBC iPlayer Downloads"

  1. Go to your folders
  2. Select the User folder
  3. Select your user name
  4. Select the Movies folder
  5. Click on the Preferences folder
  6. Delete BBC iPlayer Downloads


Uninstalling version 1.x (e.g. v1.14.2*)?

There are a couple of other folders called BBCiPlayerDownloads that need to be deleted at the following locations, using the same method as above: 

  • User > USER-NAME > Library > Preference > BBCiPlayerDownloads
  • User > USER-NAME > Library > Application Support > Adobe > AIR > ELS > BBCiPlayerDownloads

 If you can’t see the Library folder:

  1. Open the Finder
  2. Choose Go from the menu bar
  3. Choose Go to Folder (or Shift + Cmd + G)
  4. Type ~/Library into the text box and click Go

To check what version you have installed:

  1. Open the Downloads application
  2. Click on Settings at the top right of the screen
  3. The app version will be displayed at the top left of the Settings screen, e.g. BBC iPlayer Downloads v2.2.0
