Differin, the economical person’s answer to expensive acne treatments, is currently on sale at Amazon. It’s already affordable at $15 a tube, but it’s even cheaper today at $9. That’s 40 percent off, which qualifies as a very good deal. Differin is a longtime favorite here at the Strategist, often recommended as an acne-specific retinol alternative that zaps pimples at the root and works just as well as prescription-level stuff. As our beauty columnist Rio noted earlier this year, adapalene (the main ingredient in Differin) works by reducing inflammation, which in turn reduces breakouts. It works well for all types of acne, including cystic, and can help with hyperpigmentation too. Some parting advice: Differin functions very similarly to a retinoid, so the same rules apply — use SPF daily, and start out using it a few times a week to give your skin an opportunity to adjust.

The Strategist is designed to surface the most useful, expert recommendations for things to buy across the vast e-commerce landscape. Some of our latest conquests include the best acne treatments, rolling luggage, pillows for side sleepers, natural anxiety remedies, and bath towels. We update links when possible, but note that deals can expire and all prices are subject to change.
