There are some items that are worth spending a little more on during Prime Day — when the discounts are the best they ever get.
Although Apple is usually dodgy about discounting its own products, events like Prime Day usually bring about some decent price cuts on Apple gear. For instance, the smartwatch I rock every day, the Apple Watch Ultra 2, is down to its lowest price today. It’s best for fitness enthusiasts and those prone to breaking their gadgets, thanks to its extra-durable design, larger display, and improved battery life (it can last up to 36 hours in regular mode and 72 hours in low-power mode).
It also has a customizable action button that you can use to do things like launch specific workouts, and its larger display allows you to see more information than the smaller screen of the Apple Watch Series 9. That’s all great, but its best feature truly is the extended battery life, which cuts my charge frequency in half (every other day instead of every day). If you’re clumsy with your gadgets, you may also appreciate its extra durability, which makes it safer against bumps, scratches, and other accidental damage.
At 13 percent off, it’s below the typical threshold of 20 percent for tech deals I’d recommend, but it’s the lowest price I’ve seen for this watch, and because Apple deals come so rarely throughout the year, it’s worth saving the hundred bucks on such a great watch. This way you can spend your leftover cash on a more personalized band (I’m partial to Nomad’s limited-edition collaboration with our sister site the Verge).
