Here at the Strategist, we like to think of ourselves as crazy (in the good way) about the stuff we buy, but as much as we’d like to, we can’t try everything. Which is why we have People’s Choice, in which we find the best-reviewed products and single out the most convincing ones. (You can learn more about our rating system and how we pick each item here.)
And while we’ve written about lots of winter sport accessories — including the best ski and snowboard gear, the best ski bags, and the best ski boot bags — here, we’ve rounded up the best snowboard bags, as praised by the most enthusiastic reviewers on Amazon.
Best-rated (and least expensive) snowboard bag
“All you need to know is it’s a great value for the dollar and fits large snowboards like mine,” writes one user with a wide 160-centimeter Burton snowboard that “fits easily into the bag.” Others agree that the snowboard bag in this two-piece set is plenty spacious. “I could actually fit my boots, snow jacket, gloves, hat, and snow pants in the board bag amongst the bindings,” one customer writes. Another says, “With my board with bindings folded down, I can also fit my son and daughter’s [skis] in there as well.” Like this user, many note “There is absolutely NO padding on this bag (as described),” but because of the extra space they “wrapped my board with my jacket and snow pants an other clothes I was bringing along for the trip.” In addition to the size of the bag many praise the carrying straps. “The over the shoulder strap also made carrying the bag super easy,” one writes, while another says “The shoulder strap has good padding too.” One user admits they “don’t know if it’s water proof” but notes, “none of the melted snow and ice came through the bag.”
And now for some micro-picks for every snowboard bag you might be looking for.
Best non-padded snowboard bag
More than 70 percent of reviewers give this snowboard bag five stars, and many are impressed by how much it can hold. “I just went out to Colorado and was able to transport my board, boots, snow pants, jacket, helmet, and gloves all in this bag and only need to bring a carry on — resulting in me only checking one bag,” one customer writes. Another says, “I can fit my snowboard in there plus my boots, snow pants, goggles, gloves, and helmet in there,” adding that the quality is great. “The inside of the bag has almost a plastic finishing, so your wet snowboard won’t damage the fabric.” Another customer appreciates the, “Thick sturdy material, with smooth strong zippers and a convenient shoulder strap.” And many think the high-quality materials make this bag durable and long lasting. One user says this held up to “10 ski/snowboard club trips this year,” and another even says, “I’ve had this for 2 and a half years and it is still in perfect condition.”
Best padded snowboard bag
Dozens of reviewers call out the quality of this padded snowboard bag, like one who writes, “This snowboard bag is very well built; the material is rugged and the zippers are strong.” Another customer says, “The bag itself is well constructed and high quality.” And one reviewer admits that they’re “Just so impressed with the quality of the bag for the price.” Lots of reviewers also appreciate the many pockets that are built into this bag, including one reviewer who says, I was able to fit the boots into the two zippered areas for them.” Another adds, “The inner pocket is also very useful for the small bits and pieces.” As this reviewer concludes, it’s“Padded on all sides, super sturdy and even has an inside strap to hold board in place.”
Best snowboard and boot bag combo
“Wondermus!” one enthusiastic reviewer exclaims. “I took it camping with my 148-inch board and bindings on and had some room for a sleeping bag in between my bindings. The boots bag fit plenty of room for my pants and jacket.” And the pair of bags mean there’s lots of room for “Both are way bigger for my gears, but that simply means more room to fit everything else,” one snowboarder says explaining, “I can leave my helmet, goggles, and gloves in the shoe bag as well. Pretty much everything I need for snowboarding, I can fit them into one of the two cases.” Another reviewer appreciates that it’s “very durable to the weather,” while another writes, “This replaces the large blanket I was using to keep the melted snow off my seats.” Some reviewers don’t like that the zipper doesn’t open all the way, but at least one user thinks “It makes the bag far less likely to pop open when stuffed full of clothes and loaded onto an airplane.”
Best snowboard bag for travel
“For anyone traveling through an airport, this is a perfect snowboard bag,” writes one reviewer who is one of many customers who think the extra padding makes this a great snowboard bag for traveling. “I needed a way to transport a snowboard and boots on an airplane and didn’t want to spend a lot of money since we don’t use bags very often,” one customer explains, adding “This was perfect. The padding protected the boards very well and held up nicely.” Another says, “I have flown these to and from Colorado multiple times with no issue.” And even with all the extra padding, this snowboard bag still have room for other gear. As one reviewer explains, “I have a 57-inch Burton Blunt, size 12 boots and a large helmet.” They add, “All those fit in just the snowboard bag, plus my ski jacket, ski pants and ski socks and a few pullovers [and] Under Armour.” This user concludes, “You can fit everything you need for a 5-day ski trip in the board bag with your other clothes and cosmetics in the boot bag.”
Best snowboard bag with wheels
Nearly 90 percent of reviews give this snowboard bag five stars, and the wheels were a standout feature. “Traveling with this bag was very easy, the wheels worked perfectly, there’s a handle, and a strap for when you can’t roll the bag,” one writes, while another says, “It’s quality made and has wheels and handles exactly where you would want them.” As one user who “rolled it through the airport” simply puts it, it’s “Way better than carrying it.” As far as the inside of the bag goes, reviewers love that this can fit two boards — in addition lots of other gear. One user “packed 2 boards, 2 pairs of boots, 2 bindings, 2 helmets, and some clothing,” adding, “With all of that, it was still under the checked baggage weight limit.” Another says, “My girlfriend and I packed both of our boards, binding boots and some extra gear in this bag.” though they add, “We just had to take the bindings off of one of the boards to make everything fit.” But if multiple boards, boots and outerwear doesn’t give you a gauge on how large this bag is one user says, “My wife fits inside perfectly, she’s 5’4.””
