Clooney Comedy Delayed: Universal will delay the December release of the football comedy Leatherheads, directed by and starring George Clooney, until April 2008, due to Clooney’s busy schedule promoting Michael Clayton, shooting Burn After Reading, and recovering from his motorcycle accident. What a wuss! Morgan Freeman could handle it all! [HR]

Wallace and Gromit Are Back!: Nick Park’s Oscar-winning claymation characters Wallace and Gromit will return in late 2008 for their first half-hour television adventure in twelve years, titled Trouble at Mill. Word is that the plot featured romance for Wallace, but it’s unclear if faithful hound Gromit will also have a love interest, or a mouth. [NYT]

Nirvana DVD Finally Out: Universal Music announces the very long-awaited DVD release of Nirvana’s 1993 appearance on MTV Unplugged, which features songs not included on the original broadcast. Bravo to Universal Music for taking a mere fourteen years to make a no-brainer decision. [Billboard]

Abrams World Domination Plot Advances: Does J.J. Abrams ever sleep? Hot on the heels of yesterday’s ABC deal, Fox ponies up big dough for his sci-fi script Fringe, co-written with Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, about an FBI agent who must team up with a scientist to stop a “powerful and unexplained phenomena.� Our bet: It roars a lot and you never see it. Phillips Gets a Hangover: Todd Phillips will direct Hangover, a comedy about the friends of a missing groom who must retrace their drunken missteps the morning after in order to find him before the wedding. Warner Bros. paid $2 million for the spec script by John Lucas and Scott Moore, or $1 million for each potential role for Vince Vaughn or Will Ferrell. [Variety]

Lacey Treads the Boards for Albee: Tyne Daly co-stars with Brian Murray in the world premiere of Edward Albee’s new play Me, Myself, and I, which opens January 11 at the McCarter Theatre in Princeton, New Jersey. Albee’s drama revolves around physically identical twins with diametrically opposed personalities. [Variety]
