Schreiber Plays Comic-Book Villain: 20th Century Fox announces a May 1, 2009, release date for the X-Men spinoff Wolverine, with Hugh Jackman returning for the title role and Liev Schreiber in final talks for the role of young General Stryker, the character played by Brian Cox in X2. Fox is also developing a Magneto spinoff, and after that, let’s hope, a whole movie about the guy from the first one with the really long tongue. [Variety]

Unlike a Rock: Just as his album Rock N’ Roll Jesus debuts at No. 1, Kid Rock is parting ways with his manager, Ed “Punch†Andrews, who also reps Bob Seger. Power Unveils Jukebox: Cat Power’s Chan Marshall announces the track list for her forthcoming album of covers, titled Jukebox and out January 22. Featured are new renditions of songs by Hank Williams, James Brown, and Bob Dylan. Not featured: “Because the Night,†“Gin and Juice,†and “Umbrella.†[Billboard]
