Cera Makes Pilgrimage: In the most awesome face-exploding casting ever, Michael Cera will star in Scott Pilgrim’s Little Life. Pic is based on Bryan Lee O’Malley ‘s graphic novel, wherein Scott meets the girl of his dreams but must defeat her seven evil ex-boyfriends to win her love. To top it off, Shaun of the Dead’s Edgar Wright is directing this puppy. Nice one, Scott! Now turn the page. [HR]
Davis Makes Her Exit: Geena Davis will return to the small screen in the CBS drama pilot Exit 19, written by Jeff Bell. Davis will play a “quirky murder detective†who balances crime-solving with raising two kids on Long Island. In her most recent television role she played the first female president, “and look how that show ended up,†added a disgruntled Barack Obama. [Variety]
Parks Swings for Fences: A revival of August Wilson’s Fences, winner of the 1987 Tony for Best Play, is coming to Broadway under director Suzan-Lori Parks. It’s too early for casting, but since the play won pretty every award possible, Bernie Mac’s hope of reprising his Mr. 3000 character might be a little off base. [NYT]
Sci Fi Reveals Battlestar Prequel: Sci Fi Channel’s Battlestar Galactica will be reincarnated as Caprica, a prequel project that’s been in development for two years but only now has gotten the green light. Pilot, which takes place 50 years before the events in Battlestar, comes from creators Ronald D. Moore and David Eick. According to Moore, the series will mimic its predecessor with season-long arcs and, we can only hope, ample Cylon cleavage. [HR]
Nash Checks Inn: Fox has green-lit The Inn, a comedy pilot starring Reno 911’s Niecy Nash, a.k.a. Raineesha. Show is described as “Upstairs/Downstairs set at a hip New York hotel†because producers were too embarrassed to describe it as “the grown-up version of Disney Channel’s Suite Life of Zack and Cody.†[HR]
Oprah Goes Down the Alley: Oprah Winfrey is getting into the Kirstie Alley business. Alley has signed a development deal with Harpo Productions, with a daily talk show already being considered. As everyone knows, the duo has a long history together, going back to their days as twins in a motorcycle gang. [Variety]
