Yes, astonishingly! With The Dark Knight 2 still years away, as Christopher Nolan tries in vain to convince Cher to play Catwoman, there’s practically no telling which superhero might become the focus of an upcoming Warner Bros. tent pole. As The Hollywood Reporter notes today, DC Comics currently has more movies in development than at any point since Warner Bros. bought it in 1969. Among them: The Jeffrey Dean Morgan–starring The Losers, Josh Brolin’s Jonah Hex movie, The Green Lantern (starring Ryan Reynolds), The Flash (which will almost certainly not star Adam Brody), Bizarro Superman, a sequel to Keanu Reeves’s Constantine, two Green Arrow films, and, best of all, Aquaman, to be produced by Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way Productions.
But even though they think they can turn a story about a guy who talks to fish into a blockbuster, the challenge of mounting a female-starring superhero movie has thus far proved too daunting. Reports The Hollywood Reporter: “Warners and DC still haven’t figured out how to translate Wonder Woman to the big screen.â€
