Could Paula Abdul’s tweeted resignation from American Idol have been a clever ploy to get more money? That is what some are saying! Both TMZ and the Daily Beast report this morning that the door is still open for Abdul’s possible return, regardless of all tweets and official Fox statements to the contrary. TMZ puts the likelihood of her crawling back at “better than a good chance,†and Kim Masters thinks she timed her announcement so Fox execs would be bombarded with questions about her at yesterday’s TCA press tour (and they were!). Since Paula’s departure is all about money anyway, presumably it’s within Fox’s power to woo her back with a slightly better offer. In the meantime, she’s thanked her fans for their support in another completely lucid tweet.
