This Week in Rap Beef: The Return of Waka Flocka Flame

Have you been waiting all week to find out who insulted who in hip-hop this week, and how they came off doing it? Wait no more!

1. Waka Flocka Flame versus the people who stole Waka Flocka Flame’s chain
Say What? Waka, a Gucci Mane affiliate, was shot and robbed in January, which gave his insensitive enemies lots of material. This week they got some more, as the guys who robbed Waka have posted photos of themselves brandishing his chain. It has a pretty bird on it.
The Takeaway: Sure, it’s embarrassing, but less interestingly named rappers have survived worse. Trust: Waka Flocka Flame is forever.

2. Beanie Sigel versus Jay-Z and T.I.
Say What? Poor Beans is still taking shots, this time from his buddy Freeway’s show in Philly: “You’re supposed to pass that Roc when the ball got heavy / instead you getting picked at half-court, already / you starting to wither already / he 45 and playing for the Wizards already.†He also insinuated that T.I. must have cooperated with the police to get his relatively minor jail sentence for gun possession.
The Takeaway: Jay-Z is so above the fray, he’s not even the one dismissing the situation in interviews anymore. Says Bleek, “Anybody knows if you come at Hov, you’re not stopping his movement. C’mon, it’s stupid … Jay’s gone. Ain’t no time to look back. Where [Jay’s] at, no time to look back. If Jay looks back, it’s the back of the G5 [jet], luggage.†Bonus: With T.I. now name-checked, Beans has not one, but two much more successful rappers ignoring him.
