Ian McKellen seems to be growing frustrated with the continuously stalled Hobbit films, which Peter Jackson may or may not direct. On New Zealand’s Good Morning show, the actor said that an announcement related to The Hobbit is imminent: “It’ll either be, we’re going ahead or we’re not,†McKellen said. The actor is supposed to play Gandalf the Grey if the two-part Lord of the Rings prequel actually happens, but he’s not even sure he’ll be part of the production at all anymore: “Well, I’m not under contract and my time is running out. And I’m enjoying working in the theater and frankly, I would like to race after doing Waiting for Godot, get on with doing another play, but we’ll have to see. I don’t give the producers the impression that I’m sitting waiting.†[Playlist]
