ABC has reportedly made a script deal for the Avatar director’s TV adaptation of his 1994 film True Lies. Rene Echevarria will be the show-runner and co-exec producer. If green-lighted, True Lies, about a spy whose family discovers his real gig, would be the director’s first return to TV since Dark Angel, which made Jessica Alba a star. The series could end up competing with J.J. Abrams’s and Dark Knight co-writer Jonah Nolan’s CBS series, the crime thriller Person of Interest, if that comes to fruition. [HR]
