Industry Roundup: Jack Huston to Boardwalk Empire

Jack Huston.

Harrowing: Jack Huston, who played Richard Harrow, the disfigured war vet and sharpshooter in five memorable episodes of Boardwalk Empire, is joining the cast as a regular for the show’s second season. Huston is the grandson of John Huston and nephew of Anjelica Huston, and a former model. He recently landed one of the leads in David Chase’s feature debut, a music-driven coming-of-age story set in sixties suburbia. Watch this one. [Deadline]

Wild West: James Mangold, who most recently helmed the money-making Knight and Day and directed the recent remake of 3:10 to Yuma, will next direct The Gunslinger, a revenge thriller that centers on an ex–Texas Ranger who sets out to punish the men who killed his brother. [HR]

Management Change: For Dexter’s sixth season, Scott Buck, now the show’s executive producer, will succeed Chip Johannessen as show-runner. While Johannessen is well regarded, Buck was ready to take the reins. Viewers are unlikely to notice a difference. [Deadline]

Room Service: Nick D’Agosto (Heroes) and Enver Gjokaj (Dollhouse) scored the leads in the USA pilot Eden. The show, to be directed by Jace Alexander, has a very cool-sounding premise: A young hotel worker (D’Agosto) and his escaped con-artist cousin (Gjokaj) get jobs as concierges at an elite New York hotel, and they provide hotel guests with “whatever they desire, at whatever the cost.†Whoa. [Deadline]

American Erica: ABC is developing an American version of the popular Canadian drama Being Erica. Written by Maggie Friedman (Eastwick), the one-hour series explores the life of a woman who gets to go back and relive a regret from her past, in order to come back and make a positive change in her present. In every episode. Apparently a universally appealing concept, the series has been sold through international distributor BBC Worldwide to more than 150 countries. [Deadline]

Teri’s Turn: Teri Polo (Little Fockers) and Dermot Mulroney are joining Jon Voight in Joseph Rusnak’s Beyond, a thriller about a veteran detective and a questionable television psychic who will stop at nothing to find a missing child. Polo is playing Voight’s daughter and the mother of the child. [HR]

Kinship: Eric Bana and Olivia Wilde are in talks to star in KIN, a crime thriller that follows “two desperate sibling fugitives (Bana and Wilde) on the run who subsequently collide with the holiday homecoming of a troubled ex-boxer.†Stefan Ruzowitzky (The Counterfeiters) will direct from a script by Zach Dean. [Variety]

Mega-Cast: Rosario Dawson and Lynn Collins have been cast in Ten Year, the directing debut of screenwriter Jamie Linden. The ensemble drama also stars Jenna Dewan, Kate Mara, Anna Faris, Brian Geraghty, Justin Long, Channing Tatum, Chris Pratt, Chris Pine, Anthony Mackie, and Scott Porter. The film’s about — you guessed it — friends at a ten-year high-school reunion. [HR]
