WGA Nominations Announced

Despite a scathing November takedown of the Writers Guild that led Aaron Sorkin to joke, “I now will not get a WGA nomination, we can rule that out,†Sorkin’s screenplay for The Social Network was among the nominees for the Writers Guild Awards announced today. Since many favorites for the award were deemed ineligible, two quirky comedies that helpfully blanketed the WGA with screeners were able to sneak into the nominations list: Nicole Holofcener’s Please Give and the Jim Carrey same-sex rom-com I Love You Phillip Morris. The former is up for an Original Screenplay nod alongside Black Swan, Inception, The Kids Are All Right, and The Fighter, while competing against Social Network and Phillip Morris in Adapted Screenplay are 127 Hours, The Town, and True Grit. The winner will be announced February 5.
