Lone Star Lead James Wolk Heads to ABC’s Georgetown

The instant failure of Fox’s Lone Star hasn’t hurt the career of its star, the boyishly handsome James Wolk. Vulture has learned that he has already landed another leading role in a TV project, signing on to Georgetown, the political sudser being produced by Gossip Girl creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage for ABC. Wolk will play Andrew Pierce, described in casting breakdowns as a “handsome, effortlessly charming, sophisticated, brilliant, Yale graduate†who also happens to be “the youngest presidential speech-writer on record.†There’s a timely, mildly Obama-esque twist to Wolk’s new character: Per our information, Andrew starts the pilot writing for an idealistic Democratic president whose inclination to compromise has eroded the administration’s early promise. By the end of the hour, he’s mulling the prospect of going to work for a Republican. Sounds like Schwartz and Savage have been asking Lawrence O’Donnell to give them notes.
