Julianne Moore is one of pilot season’s most perennially courted actresses, but aside from the occasional TV movie or guest stint on 30 Rock, she’s thus far resisted entreaties to make a permanent move from film to television. That could soon change if HBO has its way: The network has been working with Moore on the movie Game Change (where she stars as Sarah Palin), and now the actress is said to be circling its period drama Dope, where she’d play a recovering heroin addict who becomes a private eye in the fifties. Todd Haynes, who has strong ties to both Moore (whom he directed in Safe and Far From Heaven) and HBO (where he made Mildred Pierce), is already attached to adapt the Sara Gran novel to series. Hopefully, she’ll have better luck with the network than film expat Diane Keaton, whose HBO series Tilda never made it past a pilot. [Deadline]
