Green Day’s lead vocalist is just the latest celebrity to get booted from an airline, though thankfully not for peeing on the carpet. His offense, rather, was that scourge of civilized society: sagging trousers. According to an ABC producer on the Southwest flight from Oakland to Burbank, a flight attendant came up to Armstrong and asked him to pull his pants up, to which he replied: “Don’t you have better things to do than worry about that?†The flight attendant then repeated her request and threatened to have him removed from the flight if he did not comply, at which point Armstrong sensibly shot back, “I’m just trying to get to my f***ing seat.†While it is unclear whether Armstrong’s undies were showing — a point of contention in the June incident where a University of New Mexico football player was kicked off a US Airways flight, also for saggy pants — the airline, probably fearing a lawsuit, quickly apologized to the singer and immediately booked him on the next flight out.
