Eddie Murphy has so many things to clear up! He says he’s not bitter about losing the Oscar to Alan Arkin: “I didn’t have sour grapes at all. That’s another reason I wanted to host the show — to show them that I’m down with it,” he tells Rolling Stone. He also says he’s over his beef with SNL, though he admits that he “felt shitty” about David Spade taking a swipe at him in a one-liner during “Hollywood Minute” approximately 100 years ago. Finally, Murphy rejects the idea that he’s a recluse. “Recluses are nasty, with long nails, don’t wash their ass,” he says. “I’m too vain to be a recluse.” He prefers the term “homebody,” which, fair enough. The dawn of a new Murphy sounds lovely and all, but one thing does give us pause: Murphy says that Beverly Hills Cop IV is not going to happen, so instead, he wants to turn it into a TV show about Axel Foley’s son, with Axel as the chief of police in Detroit. “I’d do the pilot, show up here and there,” he says. Hmmm … [RS]
