It’s been a good couple months since we’ve heard any desperate speculation about the possibility of a Blur reunion, so … cue Damon Albarn, with a dispiriting “Will They or Won’t They?: The Blur Chronicles” update. The Guardian asked Albarn whether the band had any plans beyond their one-off show at the London Olympics’ Closing Ceremony, and his answer was pretty much “no.” “I hope that’s the truth: That that’s how we end it,” he offered. “I don’t know … one thing I’ve learned, and I’m sure you’re exactly the same, is that everything I think I’ve got totally sorted out, and I know exactly what’s going to happen — it never works out that way …” Not exactly definite, but not promising, either. Same goes for Gorillaz, which has apparently fallen victim to artistic differences with Jamie Hewlett; new music is “unlikely,” according to Albarn. There’s still that band with Flea, though.
