When it was announced that Helena Bonham Carter would be playing Miss Havisham in Mike Newell’s remake of Great Expectations, it seemed like perfect casting: Who better to don Havisham’s desiccated wedding dress than the actress who’d probably wear that on a red carpet without batting an eye?
