“No, it has nothing to do with The Hunger Games,†Alicia Keys told EW of her new album Girl on Fire, crushing the cross-promotional dreams of a hundred music executives (and, we suppose, the Hunger Games fans who would be interested in a 50-minute Swizz-produced tribute to Panem). So instead, let us draw Katniss-like inspiration from 2012 Olympic gymnastics all-around champion Gabby Douglas, who gets her first Nicki Minaj shout-out in the otherwise kind of mellow title track, released last night. Some facts to consider: (1) Keys is scheduled to perform “Girl on Fire†at this Thursday’s VMAs (2) Gabby Douglas — along with the rest of the Fierce Five — is scheduled to present at this Thursday’s VMAs. If Gabby does not get brought onstage to jazz this one up with some handsprings, we will consider this a missed opportunity, MTV.
