Will Ferrell and Adam McKay’s production company Gary Sanchez is developing a new late night talk show for the USA Network, TV Guide reports, and the series sounds like it’ll be pretty different from anything else on the late night dial. Created by Rob Cohen (Life and Times of Tim, Big Bang Theory)  and Owen Burke (who runs Gary Sanchez’s TV division), the untitled project will be a morning show airing at 12:01 am, which is technically the morning. The show will be modeled after Live With Kelly and Michael and the fourth hour of Today hosted by Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb, and producers are looking for a male-female hosting team. This sounds like a pretty original and spectacular idea for a late night show, and if it’s done well, it could make USA a major player in the late night game. If the show makes it to air, it’ll join an ever-expanding roster of late night cable talk shows that includes The Daily Show and The Colbert Report on Comedy Central, Conan on TBS, Watch What Happens Live on Bravo, Chelsea Lately on E!, Don’t Sleep! on BET, Brand X and Totally Biased on FX, and MTV’s upcoming Nikki & Sara Live. The Gary Sanchez late night show will have one advantage over all these other programs though: it’s the only one in which the hosts are sipping from coffee mugs and cheerily reading the day’s forecast.
