At its upfronts today, FX officially announced it will be spinning off a third network, FXX. (This is adding to its already established movie channel FXM.) Generally, FXX will be geared toward a younger audience and will focus on comedies. FX president John Landgraf explained the network will launch on September 2 in 74 million homes with four original scripted comedies. The lineup will be anchored by It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and The League, both of which got renewed for a new season. Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell will join them, switching to a five-nights-a-week format. The network will also play movie comedies, like The Hangover 2. We look forward to next year, when FX launches FXXX, its porn channel, and FXOXO, its network that exclusively plays Gossip Girl reruns.
